#THESCOPE

While I was extremely fortunate to have test users that accurately matched my presumptive personae, I do wish I had interviewed users beyond my circle. Given a tight time frame, I gravitated towards interviewing and user testing with people I knew personally. In some regards, I feel like this may have inadvertently swayed the users. Beyond that, I wish I had more time to do another round of user tests that specifically targeted men to better understand how this application could have met their needs. Ultimately my biggest setbacks were time and lack of resources to find additional test users.

I, Abigail Bravo, was the lead researcher and designer on this student case study for Maryland Institute College of Art. This research was conducted over 8 weeks and was driven by my passion for finding ways to improve mental health in every day life.

#THELESSONS

Unfortunately, I do not think Enlightened fully solved the problem associated with mental health obstacles and anxiety that modern-day social media can cause. After three rounds of user testing, I did start to inch closer to a solid solution but was unable to see the project all the way through.
In the future, I would like to further explore what would motivate users to use Enlightened, as well as find a way to capture the positive interaction of male users. Ideally, I would change my overall approach by being more hands-on with the user by including onboarding screens and push notifications.
Overall, every female user I tested said they would use Enlightened daily and would love to see this application in the real world.
"I love this because it’s my choice to see this information. The current apps just abruptly throw it in my face which makes me feel pretty crappy. Here I would actually have the ability to look and analyze how much time I am really using social media… but on my own terms.”

TrainingPeaks User Research.

The objective of this student research project for MICA was to interview two different sets of users that use the same product. By implementing proper research methods, I was able to collect data and analyze their feedback that helped highlight both sets of users' pain points on the TrainingPeaks platform. The user groups consisted of both athletes and coaches of varying knowledge and experience level. Through data collection and these feedback sessions, I was able to identify what the platform needed to better support its users and lightly offering a potential solution.
